Torogan represents a Maranao residence in Mindanao, Philippines. It holds profound cultural and architectural significance. It’s often the home of esteemed figures like the datu or sultan and serves as a venue for community events and gatherings, deeply rooted in Maranao traditions.
Its interiors draw inspiration from indigenous textiles like Ikat and T’nalak fabrics. This influence is evident in the lobby’s marble stone wall, tapered counter, and towering wall lights featuring synthetic coral patterns. Traditional Gador jars adorn the space, showcasing indigenous decorations. The ceiling and floor designs reflect the intricate patterns of Ikat and T’nalak fabrics, while high ceilings with bagacay bamboo pieces provide acoustic properties. Glass windows in each hall offer glimpses of the surrounding natural beauty.
